Your in-depth course lesson books and instructional movies on DVD give you all the information you need to offer professional redesign services. Youll learn how to make the most of your clients belongings and enhance their spaces with creative and budget-friendly solutions. Youll be amazed at the difference you can make by creating a new furniture layout, choosing a fresh paint color, and adding new lighting and accessories. The course also includes information on how to prepare your professional portfolio—a vital selling tool for your business.

The program includes a comprehensive business series. Youll learn how to set up your business, market your services, and work with clients. Well show you how to set your rates, prepare contracts and invoices, conduct in-home consultations, and manage a project from start to finish. The course also includes information on designer discounts and how to set up payment terms with your clients. All your questions about how to work as a professional redesigner will be answered and youll gain the confidence you need to succeed.

Hands-on Exercises

Our interior redesign program includes a whole series of practical, hands-on exercises. These assignments are designed to help you develop your professional skills and to prepare you for the work youll be doing when you start your professional career.

With each lesson topic, youll be asked to complete one or two exercises. The goal of these assignments is to immediately reinforce the concepts you learned and to help you develop your professional skills. Some of the assignments youll be asked to complete include

• Evaluating the contents of a room and forming categories for efficient space planning
• Indentifying and creating focal points
• Mixing paint colors to show your understanding of color theory
• Recognizing and working with different style of furniture and accessories
• Measuring a room in your home and creating a scale floorplan
• Analyzing and manipulating floorplans to show your space planning skills
• Working with furniture, window treatments, lighting, and accessories to create a personal and functional space for your clients

The business component of the course also includes practical exercises. Youll develop a plan for setting up your company and marketing your professional services. Youll also practice setting up customer contracts and developing your pricing structure.

In your final project, youll choose a property to work with—either your own home or a friends home—and youll redesign the space from start to finish. This exercise pulls together all the knowledge youve developed over the course of your studies and gives you the opportunity to put your new skills to work. Youll also take before and after photos of your project which you can add to your professional portfolio.

Your Personal Tutor

Your personal tutor—a professional redesigner—will review your work and provide you with valuable feedback and advice. Available to you by telephone and by email, your tutor will act as your personal mentor and guide to the staging industry. All of our tutors have years of professional staging and teaching experience. They know what it takes to thrive in this exciting field and their goal is to guide you towards success.
